Vodafone is the latest phone operator in UK to join the bandwagon for selling iPhone. It wasn’t long ago that Tesco announced iPhones for the UK market, Vodafone officially announced that it will start selling iPhones from Jan 14th 2010.

Though there is a data limit of 1 GB on monthly mobile internet use, it offers unlimited wifi use. The tariff starts at £30 a month for two years and there is an additional charge for the handset. The handset can be bought for £59 for an 8GB iPhone 3G and £239 for a 32 GB iPhone 3GS.

Guy Laurence, chief executive of Vodafone UK, said that the company had been preparing its network for over a year to handle the introduction of the iPhone.
Ernest Doku of mobile phone comparison site Omio was quoted by Telegraph as following:
“Consumers who were hoping that with four networks vying for a share of the iPhone market that a price war would ensue, are likely to be disappointed, particularly those who have been holding out for Vodafone’s announcement in the hope of picking up a New Year bargain.”
“The networks are battling on the fronts of quality of call reception and data usage limits, rather than the cheapest deals. It will be interesting to see if their stance changes in the New Year, when the feeling is that the real battle for market share will commence.”
As the smartphone market gets heated with numerous phones being launched, UK market sure seems to be sizzling with iPhones from various operator.
